Recommendations for new users

It's currently Independence Day here in Finland, a day for good food and company. It's tradition to watch a three hour movie about the second World War, and then continue to a live broadcast of famous people who stand in line for hours in order to shake hands with the President. I'm not one for either of those, so I'm just indulging in my favourite holiday foods before I travel to Japan for the remaining month. And of course, I'm spending time here on Dreamwidth, which goes for good company in my eyes.

Since I've seen people recommending useful journals, communities and posts, so I thought I'd do the same and share the ones I've found particularly useful.

Glad it was of some help to you! It took me a while to get a hang of this website as well (despite having an account here since 2013) but then again, I had exactly the same experience with Tumblr when I first joined in 2011. Once you get the basics down it's actually very easy to use!

This is so helpful. Thank you so much for putting it together. I had a livejournal about 10 years ago that I was moderately active in but I eventually drifted away.

I don't believe DW will ever achieve the traffic LJ ever had back in the day and certainly not what Tumblr has but it would be nice to see a little more interaction here.

Compilations like yours will certainly help ease some of the anxiety.

And yeah, here I am! We're closer than you knew: the miracle of the internet. I actually me one of my best friends through Tumblr, turns out we both had the same small home town, but had totally missed each other as kids due to being different ages.

eta: I spent a couple of hours yesterday looking for and making icons but somehow I never found the fandom_icons comm and I just found a batch for fandom I was looking for so thank you!
