Where has this magnificent comic been for all my life?

I was watching a video about The Evolution of Queerbaiting by Rowan Ellis and then re-watching the older video about queer-coding, and the latter video mentioned a comic called Check, Please! as a positive example of queer coding. I recognized the name since I had seen it on the fandom lists of a few people here on Dreamwidth, so I got curious, and googled it.

Despite being a Finn, I've never been into ice hockey (which is pretty much considered treason, along with not liking Finnish baseball), but the comic had a cute art style and the main character seemed interesting. So I started reading it.

And I can't even.

This. Is. Amazing.

Just wanted to let y'all know. Going back to reading it now.

Share a little of the plot?

The story format of the comic sort of mimics a vlog. The main character, a figure-skater-turned-hockey-player and an avid baker join his university hockey team. The story follows his life for the next couple of years and later he gets a boyfriend. That's all I can say because I don't wanna spoil anything!

Well, I'm not one to complain about good queer-coding, so that's good to know. I think I've heard of the webcomic in passing in other discussions, but I wasn't aware of the queer-coding bit. Depending on the length, I'll probably read it soon--going from how you've described it, I'll probably like it.

Check Please! is so cute! I've read quite a bit of it, and it's not really my thing, personally, but I am happy it exists <3

I doubted it at first because I'm really not interested in hockey at all, but in the end the interesting characters drew me in more than the setting. I'm happy it exists as well.
